Schools w. Strong Humanities

What schools have generally good humanities and arts? I am particularly interested in writing, english, history, german, and music. I would love to take classes in subjects like sociology, archaelogy, art history, and more. I would prefer a school in the the top right hand part of the country, above 1500 students. I would like it also to be less of a typical party type of school and i would not mind more of a liberal feel. Also a school that makes it easy to take tons of classes in different subjects. I do have many colleges i'm interested in, i'm just seeing if any of those schools come up which would make me feel more comfortable about some of my choices. I guess it's also not too late for finding new schools though, so i wouldn't mind finding another cool school. Right now i'm interested mainly in finding out about the academic programs i'm interested in, but if you are interested in seeing the schools currently on my list you can click here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=91495.

The above is based mostly on Rugg's Recommendations and on College Finder

I think most of the top 30 LACs and top 30 universities will be strong enough in the humanities to provide solid education across your range of interests.

It depends on whether you're looking from Canada or Mexico.

Some of the better schools for the majors you have in mind:

Brown University
Cornell University
Indiana University-Bloomington
Johns Hopkins University
University of Chicago
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Pennsylvania
University of Texas-Austin
University of Virginia
Yale University

FWIW, I've been led to believe that Creative Writing is actually an extremely stong program at Oberlin, and History and Sociology are also strong departments. I'd be surprised if the Rugg's guide did not indicate that this was the case.

monydad-Yes, Oberlin IS listed in Rugg's under Creative Writing. And, Oberlin is in the upper right hand corner of the US. I should have mentioned it.

thanks for the responses.

If that whole liberal non-party feel is important to you, you'd like Brown more than Penn
