Schools with active Hillel (Jewish organization)?

Since I come from a very jewish background (not so much religiously as culturally), I thought it'd be important for me to look at universities (see my stats here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1169303-what-colleges-can-i-get-into-hyps.html) that had an active jewish population. im guessing that if a specific university hillel has a website means that it exsists, but it's a little tough to find out if they're actually active. hillel has its own website but i have a feeling that their data is a bit inaccurate for some reason.

anyway, just wondering if anyone knew of any colleges that i could get into based on my stats that have an active hillel/jewish population.

Have you thought about Brandeis? [Brandeis University](http://www.brandeis.edu) ?

University of Alabama. I’m not kidding, seriously. And obviously Yeshiva University. I suggest checking out the “Colleges for the Jewish B student” thread though(:

Being Jewish myself I’m familiar with Hillel’s.
I know schools that have a lot of jews are Brandeis, but it’s a very small school.
You have 2350 and very nice EC’s.
Try UVA. They have a high jewish population for students.

Message me if you want more info or have any other q’s

Sorry, didn’t bother to check OP’s stats, guess my contributions were somewhat pointless.

Syracuse University (NY)

Do post your question on the Jewish B student thread in the Parent’s Forum. Many of the parents also have A students and should be able to give you some great suggestions.

Any top college is going to have a ton of jewish students. every top 20 school(minus notre dame) is around 10% jewish or higher(up to Harvard/Penn/Columbia which are 25-30 percent)

Agree - pretty much ANY top 20 school or Ivy will have a very active Hillel. In particular Penn, Columbia, Yale, and Emory are schools that come to mind. But you’ll have a very strong jewish community at Williams, Vandy, or Duke for example, even if they might not be as large as Penn’s.

"University of Michigan Hillel was the 3rd Hillel Foundation in North America, established in 1926. Hillel was housed at two different locations at the University before moving into a house at 1429 Hill Street in 1942. The house was replaced by a large building in 1951 and that building in turn was replaced by the present Mandell Berman Center in 1988.

U-M Hillel’s history matches the remarkable changes in the University and the often turbulent times of the nation during its almost 8 decades on campus. From its earliest days Hillel played a significant role in campus life, serving not only the religious needs of the campus Jewish community but also providing a center for social, political and artistic expression. In 1937, The Hillel Players produced the first play by an undergraduate by the name of Arthur Miller. During the Viet Nam War years Hillel was the locus of much of the campus debate and political action. In the 1980s Hillel began to play a major role in the intellectual and cultural life of the University with the launching of programs like Consider Magazine, Residence Hall Repertory theater company and the Golden Apple Award.
Today the University of Michigan is widely regarded as one of the best schools in the country for Jewish students and Hillel has played a major role in the development. The 2009 Fiske Guide to American Colleges cites the quality of Jewish life as a significant factor in the life of the campus at only two schools. One of them is the University of Michigan."
