I wish that was the case, barrons, but they do. If you check the Chronicle of Higher Education or several academic journals on education you’ll see time and time again that one of the predictors for evaluations are the amount of As, even at highly ranked schools (many of which have grade inflation)

Easiness

Some students want to know how easy or difficult a class is before they register. Is this class an easy A? How much work needs to be done in order to get a good grade? This category is not included in the Overall Quality rating.

The list is flawed because as a poster said, not everybody contributes to ratemyprof.

But from my experience, ratemyprof is a good (not credible) source for finding classes. For my school, a lot of the comments are bluntly honest about their expectations (I hate math), the easiness of the prof (but teacher offers extra credit at the end), and passion (and he also doesn’t make math a boring subject).

Which to me is exactly what I look for when I am choosing my classes… I want to know what I am getting myself into. I see a lot of “Amazing teacher, but difficult class. You should attend every class for an A” type of deal. So no, not just the easiest class. I respect that a lot of reviews mention if a teacher is passionate, humorous, witty, or just reads from the freaking textbook. I look for that in a professor.
