Schools with good Engineering program?

Can you name some private schools with good engineering program?
Carnegie Mellon for example.
Also exclude MIT, Stanford, and any other state schools please.

I also wonder if Vandy is a good engineering school

^ Vandy isn’t known for its engineering, but I think you can get a good engineering education from Vanderbilt.

Other national private universities known for Engineering:
Northwestern
Princeton
Rice
USC
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Private engineering/technical colleges:
Harvey Mudd
Rose Hulman
Olin …

???

I’ve always thought that Vandy had a good engineering program. It may not be like the ones you’ve mentioned, but I’ve known kids who could go anywhere to choose Vandy for engineering.

The question was is it “good”. I would say, “yes”…it is good. Just because it’s not MIT/Cal Tech, does not mean it’s not “good.”

Hmm any schools that I can get accepted with a 2130 and 3.9 GPA?

I would put Rose-Hulman down as a safety. They seem to take almost all qualified to be there and I would say you fit in that group.

I am also looking for schools with generous financial aide. Which is why I am looking for private schools. I hear that rose hilman is weak on financial aide?

I got a my full tuition+fees+room+board covered on merit(+need now that i look at it more merit than need by far though). If I recall though its a free app so it shouldn’t hurt to throw one in and see what they offer. They are usually quick with a response.

same question but I am an international student

Hmm I see. Do you think 2130 with 3.9 UW GPA would be good enough for Northwestern?

CMU and Cornell

Other private schools that can provide a good quality engineering education with merit aid offered for some (and not yet mentioned above):
Case Western Reserve
Washington University - St. Louis
Duke
University of Rochester
WPI
Clemson
Lehigh
Drexel
Boston University
Stevens Institute of Technology
Union
Northeastern
Clarkson

Clemson is a state school

UTPG - rose hulman -I got a my full tuition+fees+room+board covered on merit+need. Now that i look at it more merit than need by far though).

??? I thought RH never gave more than 1/2 tuition for merit only.

What merit-only scholarships did you get from RH?

Did you get some private scholarships or what?

What were your stats?

Yes, Clemson is a state school.

BTW…why are you excluding any state schools?

What is your SAT breakdown?

Will your parents pay for wherever you go? Or will you need and qualify for financial aid?

Manhattan College in New York will THROW money at you. They have a FABULOUS engineering program that is very well respected. Its a small school of very tight nit people, with a solid well rounded education. Good people are at Manhattan College…really good people.

Princeton’s chemical engineering is about the same as Northeastern’s. I was surprised to learn that most Ivies were not ranked in the top 20 when it came to engineering.

What did you get on the SATs?

“And I need whatever aid I can get. My dad’s income is below 30,000 so yeah”.

It sounds like you need to reconsider some of these schools you are looking at.

Some less selective publics will give generous merit scholarships. Purdue and Texas A&M come to mind.
