What colleges have the best biology and research programs?

UCSD is really good

Duke has a great bio dept - thats what I'm majoring at there. They have a large, outstanding bio faculty, very diverse in terms of research interests. They also have some unique programs/facilities: FOCUS program first semester - small, interdisciplinary seminar courses, have dinners w/ professors, etc... related to the biological sciences: evolution, genomics, neuroscience topics. They also have some unique study abroad related bio programs to different ecosystems: Costa Rica, South Africa, Duke Marine Lab/Bermuda Triangle. Facilities wise, theres the Duke Marine Lab campus on the coast, the Duke forest and primate center, the climatology lab which can artificially create any earthly climate, duke gardens, etc... So theres lots of opportunity to get ur feet wet in research and to make use of their programs

BU has a very good medical school. Its biomed eng major is excellent.

The Ivy league, Stanford, Duke, and some smaller colleges like Williams have pretty good pre-med rates too

I think Cornell has of the best biology programs.

You can concentrate in:
Animal Physiology
Biochemistry
Computational Biology
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
General Biology
Genetics and Development
Insect Biology
Microbiology
Molecular and Cell Biology
Neurobiology and Behavior
Nutrition
Plant Biology
Systematics & Biotic Diversity

Plus Cornell offers a lot of other advantages, like the world's best agricultural college, an excellent zoology department, large insect collections, ornithology labs...

Here's a brochure about Cornell's biology program.

Check out this report on one of Emory's new bio research buildings.

Don't overlook liberal arts colleges - some have outstanding research opportunities in biology for undergraduates. Some schools to look at:
Carleton, Hope College, Swarthmore, St. Olaf, Earlham...but there are others out there as well with fantastic opportunities for research.

i agree with carolyn...swarthmore has an excellent bio department and is well-funded by howard hughes, too
