I'm really trying to find colleges that are internationally-focused- a college that teaches its students to think internationally through fostering an active student body, strong study abroad programs, etc.- a college that offers a "global education."

The two that come to mind are Middlebury and Macalester... I have not yet been able to find any others that seem to be as internationally focused as these two.

All the top LACs have outstanding study abroad programs available because they all contract with the same international educational organizations, (although a few have a program or two of their own). Example: I’ve noticed SITA (South Indian semester abroad program) on numerous LAC web sites. The Australian universities all also everywhere. And a very large percentage of students at LACs take advantage of them both because they value the experience and because they are ready for a change from the small, and often, isolated campuses they are on.

Other factors contributing to an international focus:

Percent of international students-Example: More than 10% of Grinnell’s student body is international students, thanks to Grinnell’s very generous financial aid policy. The entire student body benefits from this.

And any school worth it’s salt is going to be trying to incorporate a non-Eurocentric perspective into their curriculum, so all the top LACs probably meet your criterion, not just Middlebury and Macalester.

Mount Holyoke! About 15% of our students are international, about 1/3 are ALANA, and our Center for Global Initiatives is one of our focal programs on campus. All students are required to take a multicultural perspectives course about a culture or cultures different from their own. We also have a very strong network for study and internships abroad. And, our IR program is one of the best in the country. There’s a TON of stuff on-line about MHC’s international focus, so if you just Google, you’ll find lots.
