schools with nurturing environment

FLVADAD, I was just scrolling down to the end of the posts to say "Consider Emory & Henry" and you beat me to it.

I wonder if she'd be interested in a women's college? They have a reputation for being quite small and nurturing. I don't know much about women's colleges in the south, but options include Sweet Briar, Hollins, Agnes Scott, and Newcomb (which is affiliated with Tulane, so if she wanted a larger environment as she advanced, she could have that too). GW and Emory also have small satellite colleges (I forget the names) for the first couple years--I think students then transfer to the main campus. These might be worth looking into. I visited the one at GW when I was looking at colleges and was really impressed. It feels very far from the hustle and bustle of DC, but it would be a very short drive, and there are frequent shuttle buses to the main campus.

whether it's the thought of going to college that is causing your daughter anxiety, or the application process. Those are very different things.

Too bad she is not looking at West Coast schools. Scripps College in CA is the most nurturing school I've seen, IMO. And it has a great art department, too.
