Hi guys,

I'm an international student who's totally in love with 19th and 20th century Italian opera, particularly the bel canto works of Donizetti and Bellini, and also the Verismo works of Verdi and Puccini.

I am wondering which universities/colleges have a good opera course? I don't really sing, I am looking for scholarly study. I see myself in the future either doing research into operatic history, teaching operatic appreciation, working in a performing arts institution in a managerial/research/artistic position. I would love to have a position, any position at all, in a major opera house :)

I have already EDed to Cornell CAS as their music department is awesome, they hold tens of thousands of library items on music alone and browsing through the online catalog, their holdings are very impressive. The professor is also an expert on Donizetti, which is a dream for me.

I am looking for other places to apply RD to, particularly LACs as I think I'll have more research opportunities? I will need fin aid/scholarship at about half the total cost.

My stats are 3.83 GPA (2nd in school), 2170 SAT superscored.

Thanks in advance guys, if anyone wants to just casually talk about opera feel free to PM/leave a message :D btw YouTube terminated coloraturafan!!! imagine that!! large evidence of operatic tradition destroyed :(
