Does anyone know of a current list of schools that offer spring admissions?
TIA
On May 1 a list of schools that are still not filled is often listed on this forum. Also on the collegeboard website they list the schools that have later admissions dates. There are several.
Here is the College Board later application dates–

I’m not sure it that’s what you mean. Maybe you mean that you can start school in January instead of September. What you would need to do is to search for schools that you like and then look at whether they have that option. It would vary from school to school. Sometimes schools will take lower-level academic candidates that they want to bring in for whatever reason and assign them to start in the spring or to take a semester abroad. This allows the school to keep those GPAs and SAT scores out of the USN&WR reporting, and yet allows the school to accept the student. Sometimes big schools want to start kids in January because a lot of juniors have left for a semester abraod and they want to fill the spaces. In other words, there will be no rhyme or reason, but would have to do with the strategies of each school.
Just keep in mind…at many schools…institutional need based aid, and merit aid is very very limited for students who start in January.
Understood-- that’s not the issue. Looking for options for spring admission. This is a student just looking at restarting school (is probably a transfer student but I don’t know that yet) and will be looking possibly to start spring 2018. Will be too late by the time this is all looked at to apply for fall 2017 in most cases (not all).
In our state, most of the public universities have spring admissions. We have four CT State Universities…and they definitely have spring admissions.
I would think that most public universities (except maybe the flagships) would have spring admissions.
One thing the student needs to consider is course sequences. He may find himself totally out of sequence by starting in the fall.
Yes, dustyfeathers, this individual may not be ready for school in the fall. Thanks, for that list of late application dates. .
There are schools (eg U Rochester, USC (California), Cornell, York, etc hat have second semester admissions.
You mean student’s choice to start in the spring, not school offering a fall applicant spring admission, right?
Yes, @ucbalumnus. Some schools will take a student who has applied for fall and offer them a spring admission. Those schools obviously have spring admission so would be interested in knowing more of those too. I think Tulane just started that.
Student’s choice:
Community colleges
Probably many low to moderate selectivity colleges
School’s choice (admission of fall applicant for the spring):
Maryland
UCB
USC
Skidmore sometimes accepts students but not until the spring term. They offer incoming freshmen the option of doing a study abroad on the fall, sometimes. This was offered to a friend who declined the offer.
Hamilton admits some students in January, but I think you still have to apply in the regular application timeframe.
University of Washington has spring admissions, deadline looks to be mid-December. I do know someone who got in that quarter as a transfer from a local CC. UW operates on quarters, so there is also winter admission and summer admission, in addition to fall and spring.
