Schools with strongest English departments

I know that there must be hundreds of threads on the same topic, but I can't seem to find them. Anyways, I wanted to know what schools (universities or liberal arts, I have no preference) have the strongest English departments.

I've been considering both Journalism and English as potential majors, but generally schools offer the latter moreso than the former.

to paint a better picture for what kind of range, academically speaking, I am in (stats stats stats...): asian female, chicagoland area 32 ACT, 4.2 gpa weighted.

also if anyone could answer: I know Northwestern has one of the best J-schools in the country, but does the English department measure up as well?

to name a few LACs: vassar, skidmore, wesleyan, brown, connecticut college, kenyon, oberlin, barnard

you wont earn a nice salary if you become an english teacher

Not all English majors become English teachers.
