This one person somehow found me in online and asked me if he can go to US college with IELTS results only(either for English learning courses or for regular courses)
I have no idea about his/her previous education records and s/he has 5.5 overall(pretty low).
Are there any schools that accept int. students with IELTS only??? I doubt it.Even if there is, I seriously doubt the quality of that school.
I know of Maryville College. They don’t require intl students to take SATs and either IELTS or TOEFL is accepted.
If that person has money,they can use the INTO programs at various universities. Essentially, they have 1 semester of English classes then start at the university. The application process is thus greatly simplified. Same basic principle for UNebraska’s bridge program at ELI.
S/he says her family can afford up to 600~680 bucks per month. Then I guess his/her luck is over, right?

Many Canadian schools, as well as UK schools, will base their decisions on the national board exam results + IELTS. Check out McMaster, York, UOttawa, Mount Alison, Lethbridge, Simon Fraser, Dalhousie, UNBC…

@paul2752 I think Penn state University Park only requires TOEFL, and its a good university.
Unfortunately, starting this year Penn state requires the SAT or the ACT from all international applicants.
