from her perspective there were too many trees

What is this thing about trees? "Too many trees" was the reason my d. gave for dropping Goucher from her list. (She had to visit, as I sent her traveling alone to visit colleges and she had an overnight there, and no where else to stay.... but if there had been a parental car available, she would have wanted to turn right around and drive off in it as soon as she arrived).

And shoes??? I don't think my d. actually ruled out any place based on shoe observation, but I wouldn't be surprised if shoes figured rather high on her priority list. She did post a message to a bulletin board for newly admitted students seeking a roommate with the same shoe size.

Bryn Mawr really is that beautiful. We walked around the campus when S was checking out Haverford. It didn't have as "warm" a feeling as some campuses, imo. My personal vote for the "warmest-feeling" campus is Carleton.

Most amazing trees goes to Lewis & Clark. Two halves of the campus are separated by a rainforest-y canyon. As we crossed the bridge over the canyon, my son said, "This looks like Jurassic Park." and the tour guide said, "Yeah, and it's even cooler in the rain!" Evergreen State has wonderful trees too.
