Schools you would never go to.....

Yeah she's from Brooklyn herself. She applied to other schools like Brandeis, Vassar, etc., but wanted to stay close to home. Good Luck!

Penn State is a good school, its pretty cheap if u go to a different campus for a year or two (if OOS like me). Its ranked 13 in finance, which is what Im going to be majoring in. Hope I get to go, but I also have Ohio State to choose from.

Hmmm....Let's see:

-MIT: I despise science. And their campus is ugly.
-CalTech: I despise science. And they require 5 terms of physics/chem. Enough said.
-UC Berkeley: Asians outnumber caucasians.
-Harvard: Too pretentious. I'd only go for law/MBA.
-University of Texas: I'm too liberal. I'd get shot.
-Pensacola Christian: I'm too liberal (and atheist). I'd get expelled.
-CSUs: CSU is to UC as Michigan State is to UMich.
-Olin Engineering College: I despise science. Any college with the word 'engineering' in its name is a no-no for me.
-Any school that has the word 'technology' in it: I despise science. And any school with the word 'technology' in its name is usually a sciency school. Blech.
-Any school in the bible belt: see "University of Texas."
-Columbia: Too much of a core curriculum. I'd only go for law/MBA.
-Any school in a state that voted republican: UVA and UNC are BIG exceptions. In any other state, people would make attempts on my life. I'm too liberal.
-Any school with the word 'science' in it: I despise science.
-Any school that is strongly religiously affiliated: Schools like Gtown that don't impose religion on you are fine, but not schools like Pensacola Christian.

Schools I would love to go to:

-UPENN: I'm planning to major business. Wharton=top dog in business. Enough said.
-University of Michigan: It's cold, liberal and close to the canadian border. If there's a new draft, I'll go to Canada so fast your head will spin. And Ross is just as good as Stern, which is almost as good as Wharton.
-NYU: Only if I get to go to Stern. Because Stern is almost as good as Wharton.
-Brown: No required classes, and I despise science. So no science. yay. It's also cold, and liberal. :)

hmmm I chose penn State because it is close to home, cheap, a good school and has excellent school spirit. I chose it over Cornell and Michigan, two of the countries top schools. Don't tell me that I am going to Penn State because that is all that I could get into. I got into every school I applied to including Schreyers Honor College (one of th other reasons I am attending Penn State). Oh and I am not our Validvictorian I am 5th ranked. You are arrogant and that pretty much is the bottom line. I got my numbers from the freshman english blog of a girl that went to your school and now is currently a freshman at University Park. Oh and I attend Nazareth High school since you really wanted to know.

That's a terrible analogy. Michigan state is at least a good school, whereas most of the cal states are not.

My son is going to Penn State (Schreyer Honors) too. It's a great program (with only 300 freshman coming in each year) and an excellent value. It's a shame that Penn State has such a negative reputation in some circles. He's attending Smeal and its business program is ranked in the top 20. The campus is beautiful. Everyone who goes there loves it. Who cares if a lot of kids the high school go there? From my perspective. BU and American are not worth the extra money for in state students! HYP maybe...but not those schools.

Hey just to let you know for overall college rankings USnews has Penn State at 48th while American is 85th and BU is 60th so getting into Penn State is obviously more of an accomplishment.

I refused to go to:

-Rowan - too close to home for me
-Rutgers Camden - wouldn't have minded going to the other campuses, but the thought of going to school in Camden frightens me
-LaSalle or Temple - good schools, but in a bad neighborhood

Ok thats you mommy....My parents have plenty to pay and dont need to think about 'value schools'. If you cant think of why i dont want to go to a school full of people from my high school then you're an idiot. And in state has nothing to do with it since theyre private...

-LaSalle or Temple - good schools, but in a bad neighborhood

LaSalle is, but Temple is getting better in terms of safety.

I'm aware. In case you didnt know, AU and BU dont comply with USNews' request for money. (more money=higher rank)

JPOD - Not too fast...we were willing to pay for Wake Forest or Lehigh (both schools are not too shabby, I'm sure you'll agree). He would rather save the money for grad school - especially since the Business School is ranked so high. With over 30,000 kids at PSU, I think he'll find other kids to hang out with. To each his own...

I'm sure he will, but i dont want to be in essentially a similar environment. PSU business is better then Lehigh, and equal to Wake's so it really wasnt that rash of a decision. I can see why youd choose PSU over Wake.

-Any public school in Connecticut besides for UConn

^ Hahahaha I second that, except add UConn to the list. It's a great school, but I've been brainwashed by my dad, the adoring alum, for years and I'm just the kind of daughter who insists on thinking for herself ;D

Yeah, mostly the CT schools because probably over half our senior class ends up at Southern, Eastern, Western, or UConn and I really don't like my class very much, plus they're wayy too close to home. Other than that, I'll go pretty much anywhere that a) Is integrated enough into civilization that it has decent shopping/eating out prospects and b) Isn't overwhelmingly politically conservative or socially intolerant.

whats wrong w/ u of chicago?

Yeah i loveeeeeeeeeed UConn, but being that its in the middle of nowhere turned me off.

Mhmm, I'm not a fan of the location either.

yeah cant blame ya

I would never ever ever go to: a no-name school or Rutgers.

Esperame:

Most of the people at U of C are ugly.

HAHAHAHAHA. well thats good to know, i'd never heard that. :)
