The whole 'grade 13' thing is why I turned down MSU, for the most part.

I would never lay foot in an all girls school. I would go completely nuts.

caltech...its so damn quiet and boring

US Coast Guard Academy.

I could never be a puddle pirate

celebrian........12,000 posts.............my godddddd

I hate California....I HAVE to get outta here...

The only places that have business are UC Berkeley and UC Riverside.

I wouldn't get into Berkeley. and I don't like Berkeley. I can get into Riverside easy, but their business is crap.

I'd also rather avoid SDSU.

If you like your high school and the people there, it shouldn't be a problem.

I like the people, but I wouldn't want to spend another 4 years with them.

If you have a reputation you do not like or not as many friends it isn't going to make a difference in college.

What?

I really cannot comprehend why people would give up places that offer great educations balanced with amazing social lives at unmatchable prices to go to a more expensive school just because it isn't grade 13?

NYU Stern Finance is better than Berkeley Finance. NYU Stern Finance is almost as good as Wharton Finance. And I wouldn't get into Berkeley. I don't like southern CA and I don't want to go to Davis or SC. There. I said it. And UCs are kinda overrated.

Oh with that said...I have to add UCs to my list. :D

^What's wrong with California?

Cheapseats...I'm a highschool junior, so I've not yet applied to any schools. But because of my financial situation I am almost certain I'll be going to Maryland (hopefully I'll get into the honors humanities program...crosses fingers). At first I was really down about it, but thank you /so/ much for all of that information! I think I'm really starting to realize that UMD is going to have a lot of opportunities for me. It's great to see somebody so enthusiastic about his school. It can only mean good things :).

Uconn...

Joining the grade 13 argument late, but my high school was on the Uconn campus -- which is also boring and in the middle of nowhere

Yet my parents are making me spend a night there at some get-acquainted-with-honors program over the summer? WHAT?

any school with lame big nerds.. like harvard.

Any religious/conservative college, any all-women's college, anything in states where summer temperatures only reach 60 degrees and winters go to below 0.

My plan is to just stay in the South. Sure, Northern schools might be better/have more Ivy Leagues/whatever, but I am not going up there to freeze my ass off all winter :) :-P
