Which schools at CMU are hardest to get into?
Which school is easiest to get into?

in the online app-where u select the schools and majors u are interested in.. does this affect your chances? for ex. u pick the business school which im assuming is more selective.. than its harder for u to get in?

scs is hard to get into, apparently, and im assuming that this means that yes, what u choose as ur school will affect you

CFA is hard to get into, especially drama, but I'm assuming that you're not interested in that.

SCS and Tepper (business) are the hardest to get into, followed by CIT (engineering). H&SS is the easiest, but MCS (Mellon College of Science) has about a 50% admit rate.

At CMU you are admitted to a particular school rather than to CMU as a whole. You can change majors within the school, but transferring between schools creates lots of paperwork and is difficult to do. Thus, apply to schools with majors you're intested them and rank them correctly. So yes, the school you choose affects your chances of being admitted, but it's easier to be accepted into SCS and Tepper and CIT than transfer into them later. Also, you'd be behind if you tried to do that.

wait so which ones are the easiest to get into?

i guess it won't matter since ill be applying to the school i want to go to.. but im still curious. I'll probably apply to tepper.. is it one of most selective schools at cmu?

also what if u dont have one of the requirements? Like i dont have physics on my transcripts.

I'm not sure about requirements. If your school didn't offer it, make a note and you'll be fine. If they did... well, you can't do anything about it now, can you? Cross your fingers and/or call the admissions people.

I thought IS was the easiest, but I may be wrong.
