schools

how would you rank cornelss's various schools in order of admissions difficulty?

Easiest - the one that’s the best fit for you.

Hardest - the one with the subjects you’re not interested in.

Case closed.

^well put..

kids these days… always looking for a back door…sigh

I am no expert but this is what I think…people can apply to their “easiest” schools but sometimes their interests can be fulfilled by various colleges. For example,u can do biology related majors in almost 3-4 colleges at Cornell. Thats why rankings help…they can help u find the easiest of the easiest colleges for u, if u are not very academically strong(like me)

this is how I would rank it.

 1. Architecture
 2. CAS and CoE
 3. ILR
 4. CALS
 5. Human Ec
 6. Hotel

^^ that could be completely wrong

" ^^ that could be completely wrong"

it is

hypothetical: a kid is an equal fit for all schools, which one would be the easiest for him to get into?

there is no answer to that question, we’ve been fairly obvious about this over the past several years on CC.

Its would be really hard to find someone that was an EQUAL match at all schools because the criteria that makes them a desirable applicant differs so much from school to school. I believe AAP technically has the lowest acceptance rate, but they are also the smallest school and can take a much smaller incoming class. But if your goal is to be an architect and it would be silly to apply to, say, CALS cause you think it would be easier to get into. Apply to the college that best fits you and your interests. If you are applying to a school just because you think it will be easier to get into it will show in your application and you will not get in. The colleges/schools want students who really want to be there. The acceptance rates really don’t say a lot about which school is easier to get into.

Nicely put CornellECEgirl. The great thing about Cornell is that just about everyone can find a home for themselves there. Given that, however, you do have to find the college, or in some cases two colleges, that most fit what you want to study. The admissions reps will be looking for that in your essay and supporting materials–those are the applicants who will be most successful in the admissions process.

I’m applying for Human Ecology because i’m really interested in it but i’m not sure if it’s what i want to do. does anyone who goes to cornell know if it’s hard to switch later on? i’m not totally sure if i want to do human development in human ecology or environmental science in agriculture and life sciences.

I heard that if u show real dedication to ur transfer school u should be fine…
