I have always been a little under the radar about my grades and stuff. I want to get into Schreyer but don't know if I would live in the "honors" dorm. Wouldn't east halls be more fun?

Any thoughts?

It depends what kind of housing you want, and what you’d consider fun. East is small and far from most of your classes. Plus I’ve heard it gets pretty loud. I guess if you talked to the people at Shreyer you might be able to convince them not to put you in their housing, but don’t think your only two options are that or East. Freshmen can live in other dorms as well.

Now that I have actually been accepted to Schreyer, does anyone have any advice? I really feel uncomfortable with the “separate” honors housing. Anyone know anyone who didn’t do it?

I have known a few people who chose not to live in honors housing, but most of them wound up spending all their time there anyway. Honestly, Atherton Hall is a pretty nice dorm both for location and amenities - if you indicate specific concerns it will give us a better idea what you are looking for.

I am looking for a simple freshman experience. I don’t want SHC to define me.

Idarose - my DS has been in Atherton for the past 2 years, but I wouldn’t say that “defines” him in any way. If anything, he considers himself more of a Blue Band member than an SHC member.

Thank you.
