Sooooooooo I’m super confused right now because both schools are great and I know Pitt is better than penn state for pre med but a large chunk of kids (Pitt has 28000 kids and has 272 pre Med applicants per year; psu has 46000 with 314 pre med applicants per year according to aamc website) who go there do pre med so I don’t know if that’s a good thing because it’s reputed or a bad thing cuz the competition there will be insane. I know penn states not bad either for pre med but it doesn’t have a UPMC like Pitt does (I mean it has Hershey but it’s an hour away and mt nittany can’t compare to UPMC). Schreyers is more structured than Pitts HC but I don’t know if the perks of Schreyer’s outweighs the obvious benefits of being close to UPMC. I know GPA is a huge factor when applying to med schools so I’m wondering how hard is it to maintain a gpa at Schreyer’s vs at Pitt. I know it’s subjective but any time of input would be appreciated. Also my best friend is going to Pitt and I know the whole “don’t pick ur college based on ur friends” but going with her would definitely make my college transition a little easier cuz we would most probably room together. I guess I need a third perspective because I don’t want to base my decision off of where she’s going but it’s hard to be reasonable when the anxiety arises from thinking about going to a huge 46000 kid school all by yourself.
So to reiterate my rant: both schools have about the same stats in terms of sending kids to med school. Schreyers percentage of pre med acceptance may/may not be higher than normal psu. Pitt will be 5k ish cheaper a year. Pitt has upmc and Schreyer’s has its name and perks. Pitt also has my best friend. Where should I go?
Reading back on this, I should’ve probably used more periods in my sentences so I apologize for that but I’m super duper confused and I really need help so any input would be appreciated!
