SCI laptops

Why are the macbook pros offered by the SCI store MORE expensive than those offered directly by apple? I know that they come preloaded with the "student software suite," but if I already own Microsoft Office, is there anything to make buying a computer through princeton worthwhile?

Well I know that the SCI computers have a 3 year applecare warranty with them, if that helps explain the pricing at all. I think that’s usually worth $100 - 200 or so.

Plus, if you have one of the SCI models they have 24hr technical support. So if you’re computer decides to conk out the night before a big paper or something they can hopefully work it out.

yeah, I’m also wondering if the higher price paid through SCI is worth it? seems like I should just get mine through a cheaper store unless there is some real benefit…

i have heard that if you buy one through SCI you get quick service if your computer has a problem, but not sure what thats worth, especially if you’re someone who knows your way around a computer…

not sure about the apples because I didn’t look into those, but if you find the exact models through Dell there’s about 150 dollars difference, and the Princeton models are slightly different. Extra memory, stuff like that. I think. I tried to do my research but am not a computer person. Feel free to confirm that before I order mine. Haha

Get an ASUS with a switchable video card and pop in an SSD, you’re good to go with a 2x faster laptop at 1/2 the price
