Science and Math GPA question

Hi,
I was wondering do remedial math classes count in math and science GPA? I got a C semesters ago. Will it affect me at all? I am normally an A/B student had a rough 2nd semester of college got a C in a soc class and a C in a remedial math class. All other grades even out at a 3.7.

If the class is recorded on your transcript and has MTH designation, it counts in your sGPA calculation. Level doesn’t matter.

hmm that just doesnt seem right thats like taking into high school classes into consideration…
You would think they would be look at “college level coursework” or something not a high school math class hah.

Also after visiting a few medical schools websites, they don’t even mention a SM GPA.

Its a college course, not a high school course. You paid for it so Im sure you noticed the difference. And any college course you took while in high school would matter as well. Google BCPM GPA.

I was merely stating that it covered high school topics.

That doesnt matter, its still a college course. In addition, many first year course material couldve been covered in HS. Calc 1 & 2, stat, chem, physics etc. There r difference however, one being that colleges use a semester to teach material HS uses an entire year for. Grading is usually more strict in college aswell.

found it on some other form, apparently it is taken into consideration but if you have redeemed yourself as in getting As in the higher levels it won’t really have any weight in your consideration.

3 credits out of 100 science and math course wont really matter at the end of it.

I completely agree, just didnt think it was taken into consideration, but now I am understanding why they do. Awh man I wasnt even a bio major back then!

Bingo.

Wish the majority of kids who post “OMG I GOT A B IN A HUMANITIES CLASS IS IT STILL POSSIBLE TO GO TO THE BEST MEDICAL SCHOOL IN THE UNITED STATES?!?!?!?!!” threads would adopt your attitude!

Good luck!

^ so very, very, very true

Haha I always say that was then and it can never happen again.
