For the class of 2018:
I was wondering if any of you rising Juniors(can’t believe we’re about to be upperclassmen!) are in the Science and Tech programs at your schools and also describe how the program has been for you guys.
For me, the program has been very rigorous and difficult because
- Your GPA has to be ABOVE a 2.0
- You can’t get below a C in ANY subject
- You have to be an intern your junior year and have a job your senior year if you want a “half-schedule.” (Getting out of school at 11 am because you’ve completed everything else you need to complete).
- As a senior, you have to write a 5 chapter summary of your experience in the Science and Tech Program.
Although it is very rigorous, It offers many tremendous rewards in the future such as, entering into any track of your choice. ( For me, I’m entering into the Biology track because I have kind of experienced what it would be like to be in the Computer Science and Engineering tracks and I like neither, so I decided that Biology is the best for me). Unfortunately, for your freshman year, my school only allows you to take one AP class and I took Government (awaiting my score in July).
For my Junior year, I’m taking:
Ap English language and composition
Ap Biology
Ap Bio Lab
Medical Science
Ap World History (decided not to take anymore so I’ll have to change my schedule)
Normally, my school has an A day/ B day schedule system, meaning that we have 8 classes in total. 4 for your A days and the other 4 for your B days. Apparently, they want to change that and add a study hall so I don’t know how that will go.
Physics
Algebra II( could of been in Calculus but my middle school messed up my algebra I score, making me to take it again 9th grade year
Ceramics ( an elective)
SAT Prep(another elective offered at my school, although there’s more)
Sorry it’s so long
