I dislike most science intensely, but was wondering if there are any science courses which are particularly tailored towards more arts-minded students.. ie more theoretical stuff. In particular I'm thinking about quantum theory and its implications for theories about how the world came about etc. - are there any courses which for instance combine philosophy with physics?

Most of the Core science classes are designed for Humanities majors. The three science cores I took were "Sex," "History of Life," and "Matter in the Universe" (a.k.a Physics for Poets). You will find plenty of classes designed for students like you.

As a non-scientist, my favorite course at Harvard was the one science course I took for distribution purposes ... the History of Science. We learned all the wrong theories - the one that didn't pan out .... the "music of the spheres" , the Piltdown Man etc. To this day, I'm not sure whether the earth revolves around the sun, or is it vica versa?

Astronomy....

"To this day, I'm not sure whether the earth revolves around the sun, or is it vica versa?"

Any astrophysicist will tell you that both statements are correct, depending on the frame of reference. Maybe u learned something after all.

i've always hated bio, so for my sci-b core i took the human organism. i would def recommend this class to anyone who really isn't into bio. both the midterm and the final were open book and really easy, and the rest of your grade is a 10-15 page research paper on basically whatever you would like. it really wasn't bad because you have the entire semester to write it, and you could even write from a literary standpoint (typhoid in literature, etc.) - whatever interests you. the main focus of the class is learning broad concepts and to not sweat the details (not at all). the labs were fun and consisted of basically hands-on activities which reminded me of field trips to the science museum when i was like 12, and they weren't graded. the class even has an optional training course to get cpr and aed certified.
