Science at NYU?

So I have come down to a decision between NYU and Rutgers University
I want to major in something in the sciences field, probably engineering
I heard that since it's NYU's first year at an Engineering school, it's probably gonna suck
And Rutgers is pretty high up there in terms of Engineering
However I am looking for a good all around college to attend and I'm just not sure if Rutgers can provide that as well as NYU

Opinions?

Anyone else doing science majors or is everyone flocking to business or the arts?

i’m doing a science education major. (chemistry)

Do you have any idea how good their science programs are?
I really want to do engineering but I wasn’t sure if NYU has the resources for it

from my research and my friends opinions, the science education department (along with the education department as a whole) is top notch… i dont know exactly how good the science departments are though.

i’m not really sure about the engineering program here because NYU-Poly is still in an awkward merger phase and that is the engineering school. i know there’s a 3-2 program with stevens institute… but i’m not interested in engineering, so i never really looked into it.

Some of the Science programs here are strong, I’m not gonna lie, Engineering is not one of them. If Rutgers has a strong, established Engineering program I think it would make sense to go there.

I’m studying NeuroBiology with a minor in Genetics and it’s a fairly good dept. But Engineering isn’t really one of our top majors…NYU CAS’s strongest programs are Econ, IR, Journalism, Math, and Philosophy. It’s a very artsy school.

Well I suppose I can switch majors to econ or math
but i really do want a great all around school with great programs in pretty much all of my various interests
Engineering was my option because of what I could learn from building
