How good is science like bio, chem at Yale compared to those at Harvard, Stanford, MIT...etc?

I think those at HSM are much better. Yale is not a university for science and technology, but arts and humanities.

sorry lucifer...have to disagree. not that Y isn't great in the arts and humanities...but it's very competitive in math, science and engineering, too. my S was concerned about this, too. so he did his homework, visited the schools, spoke with professors and students in the various depts, sat in on classes and found out first hand.

There's always some "science at Yale" thread floating around. Then it dies and someone else starts a new one. It's annoying. Search around before posting.

Really? I've been getting conflicting opinions on this... some say that Yale is good at the sciences. Maybe I misinterpreted what they said.

nycdad,

not to say that Yale's science department is not good, but when you compare it to the best of the best schools in science, Yale pales in comparison.

Agree with rtkysg. We should see whose scientific programs yale is campared to. As far as I know, no historic scientific achievement was done at Yale and Yale produced much less number of Nobel laureates compared with Harvard,MIT,Uchicago and Berkeley.
