How much would major science awards help with admissions?
i.e. Best in Category at ISEF and Siemens Reg. Finalist

A lot, I would imagine, especially with the prestige of those particular names. I'd say, near equivalent to have attended a good science/math camp (SHARP, CCIS, PROMYS).

Hey, I just wanted to see what you all thought about a friend of mine. He's going Harvard SCEA. His SAT scores are solid (2300 I believe), he has some solid EC's, and has taken the hardest course load since he transferred here and took everything earlier than the rest of us. However, he was only ranked 18th and his GPA is just alright. However, he just became a Siemens National Finalist. This project has also won him high LI Congress awards and other competitions. I want to know if you guys believe this National Finalist Status will propel him into Harvard?
