Science Class Senior Year for Business Career

Hi -
I recently received my schedule for my senior year and had a scheduling conflict where I’m stuck in a situation: I can either take an online AP Chemistry course via my high school, or I can take AP Stats (regular class).

For some context: I’m planning on going into some selective business schools (i.e. NYU Stern). I have already taken 3 years of science (Bio, Chem and Physics, all honors) and have done well. I’m overall a good student and have a 96/100 UW average because my school doesn’t calculate GPAs out of 4.

My senior year schedule would be:
AP Econ (both macro and micro)
AP Spanish Lang
AP Calc BC
English 4 Honors
A mandatory religion class (I go to a Catholic HS)
Either AP Chem online or AP Stats

Honestly, I would PREFER to not take AP Chem because I’m not a big fan of online courses. However, my only concern is that colleges will not like the fact that I didn’t take a science in my senior year. Although I plan on going into business, I keep hearing conflicting opinions. Wouldn’t AP Stat be more applicable to my major, anyways? What do you guys think??

You’ll likely have to take calculus-based statistics as a business major. AP Stats is very basic material that you could probably self study with Barron’s, and many of the top-tier colleges don’t give credit. Have you taken any AP sciences? If so, then it probably doesn’t matter if you don’t take AP Chem.

Yes, stats is more relevant to business majors but that doubles you up on math and means you’re missing a science.

If you have to take science online anyway, why AP Chem? There should be more than one online science choice from most online providers and AP Chem is likely a slog. It’s a tough class even with a good in-person teacher to keep it interesting, and you’d be missing the labs as well.

If there is no other science available, I’m guessing stats is the more tolerable option.
