Hey all, I just won a best of category award at ISEF. I was wondering how prestigious people think this is/how much it helps in admissions to stem schools (i.e. MIT, Caltech, etc.). I’m not trying to brag or anything, I just was wondering if someone could sort of put it into context.
That is considered a very, very, very, VERY prestigious award. Even becoming a finalist for ISEF is pretty prestigious; winning a Best in Category award is amazing.
@topaz1116 Thanks. I needed that, I think. Once you sort of get to the level that the other people there are at, you start to get serious impostor syndrome/it makes everything feel like it’s not good enough. Some of the resume’s of the people there (cough @PurePhysics cough) are just insane.
@berkinit2021 Not to worry, I only got 3rd in math this year… Better luck next year.
As far as BofC is concerned, it looks great on an app and could be that one differentiator that garners attention.
