science course requirements

I am not seeing which science courses are required for graduation. Are they major dependant? That is if you are a chemical engineer major you would be required to take chemistry, likewise a mechanical engineer might be required to take physics. From what I can tell, mathematics majors don't have to take chemistry if they do not want to, or even physics. For the outside-the-discipline-but-related course they can take CompSci classes it looks like. Am I understanding this correctly? Or are there specific science course requirements that apply to the entire student body that I am just not seeing?

To my knowledge there are no classes required for all students. But I think that most majors at WPI do have a small science requirement. In all likelyhood your son will take far more math/science classes than he has to, depending on his specific interests.

For example, electrical/computer engineering majors only need two computer science classes. Almost everyone starts with introduction to computer science, which is taught in scheme and doesn’t really directly relate to ECE. Then most students take systems programming to finish the requirement. But if a student is interested in computer hardware, they will likely take algorithms and assembly programming too.
