Science Engineering Apprenticeship Program (ONR SEAP) 2014

Hey guys. This is the thread for SEAP 2014. Let us post our thoughts on this thread...

SO... Application is due Jan 6 next year, so who are all applying???

And please if you get any results or information through email, post it on here, so we can get more info about SEAP...

How competitive is getting admitted to this program? It seems really interesting, but I don’t know if I’ll get accepted.

Is this on a rolling basis? I submitted my application on the 12th and am wondering if anyone received an acceptance yet? :)

Got an email and had a phone interview today–they have to make their decisions by the 21st of February, so we should all know at the beginning of March.

For the record I just got another acceptance email, and had to turn it down as I was officially accepted to the first lab… it sucks having to turn down such a great opportunity… at least others will get to do it!

@2015emccords. What labs did you apply to. Just wondering since I haven’t gotten any emails yet.

I applied to SPAWAR and the Point Mugu/Chinalake center. I have not heard anything from either.

Anyone here heard from SPAWAR or Point Mugu/Chinalake? I really want to know if I have shot, or if they’ve already decided.

Do they send email as not accepted? Or by March 1st week we don’t hear from them we should assume that we haven’t got accepted. I haven’t got any response from them. Also I am not sure yet if my recommendation went or not. I asked teacher 3-4 times to send recommendation and now feeling odd to ask again.

Just putting it out there that I have still not heard anything as of March 5th. Location: Point Mugu/Chinalake

I emailed the corona base and they said the deadline for them to decide was a few days ago. They also said we should hear back within 30 days.

I emailed the SEAP program earlier this week and they said “notifications are expected to go out as soon as this week via email”.

I also emailed them and got the same response that they would come out starting this week. Haven’t gotten anything else yet though. I applied the the two laboratories in Philadelphia

I GOT ACCEPTED FOR THE CORONA LAB TODAY!!!

Is anyone else going to ONR or NPS?

Hey guys! @ecolocation, I applied to the NPS and the North Island Base. Haven’t gotten back a response yet. :frowning:
Does anyone know how we could send in our SAT 1 or 2 scores?

My son heard from ONR on Friday. I don’t think SAT scores had to be submitted–at least not yet. I’m pretty sure I would have been asked for my credit card if they had to be sent!

@NexusQuiga … I just realized that if you applied to North Island Base, you probably applied to a different NPS (isn’t North Island Base in Florida???). We heard back from ONR in Monterey, CA.

@echolocation: Do you live near Monterey CA? How easy is it to find a short-term apartment over there?

@hitoya01 We don’t live close enough to commute. It’s pretty easy to find places to stay since Monterey is a big tourist destination, but it’s also expensive. The stipend covers housing costs with some to spare, so it’s not like it’s going to cost any money.

@echolocation: Do you have any recommendation for places to stay?
