Science fair...Discuss!

So, who here does science fair?

I've been wondering how it's done at other schools. Do you guys have to participate? Also, when do you guys start and when is the science fair?

If anyone is doing it, what's your project?

I'm doing Solar USB Charger vs Wind USB Charger, where I compared solar power to wind power while charging a USB light, fan, cooler, plasma ball, and an iPod. I swear, I spent too many hours on it, starting back in September, spending 100 hours on trials alone, and finishing it now.

So, how bad is it for you guys?

I built a particle accelerator with a few tons of steel and a couple of miles of copper wire. Attempting to isolate antimatter in a cost-effective way. So far, I’ve managed to shred holes in spacetime and create mini black holes.

(I’ve got nothing. But how cool would it be if I actually did that?)

Aww, I was actually hoping you did that. That would be awesome!

I’m studying the facial recognition disorder prosopagnosia in the contexts of perception and memory… cognitive testing, data analysis, etc. YEAH COGNITIVE SCIENCE! The science fair already happened but I’m still collecting data ‘n’ what not for the lulz.

YOUR PROJECTS SOUND KEWL.

Thanks, lmao. Yours sounds pretty cool too. I always feel that there’s a bias towards bio sci fair projects. But in you’re case, you would deserve something!

Doing it this year! stabilization of an organic light-harvesting structure made from tobacco mosaic virus proteins!

in simple words, strengthening of an organic solar cell. my ecoli cells keep on committing suicide though =[ faulty results noooooo

aww, lol. I have a friend who’s working with ecoli too, but he’s doing much simpler stuff, with anti-bacterial stuff. Yours sounds interesting as well. I’m thinking of maybe trying to work on creating a super efficient solar panel next year, seeing as I’m applying to a nanobiotechnology thing at Cornell this summer, hoping I might be able to do something there.

^ probably will. my project branched off from a nanotech bioengineering project I did this summer over at UC Berkeley

very nice, lol. How was the program? I’m not sure how much the one I applied to takes, because it didn’t say and it didn’t seem to competitive, but there weren’t any pictures of a lot of people.

Haha, your idea is better than both of my ideas the last two years. I did mine through the Junior Science Humanities Symposium. I think it was really fun because I traveled to another country because of that - by just getting the project done. But it took up so much of my time- I probably did it everyday, including weekends.
I am a slow worker- no surprise.

I’m not doing it this year, well, 'cuz this school doesn’t have it. My other school was tiny, so we were able to, but this school here, is jumbo 3x bigger. Lol, and it’s a public school.

@tmanneopen – Which one did you apply to?
