I thought one of the more interesting parts of the Steve Jobs bio was his explanation of why Apple manufactures in China. Jobs said it was not the cheap labor, but the need for 30,000 engineers to manage and guide the production. He said they could find the production workers in the US, but not the engineers. He said they did not need to be elite engineers and many could be trained at community colleges, but they simply did not exist in the numbers needed. Jobs said if they could find the same number of engineers they could in China, they would build factories in the US.</p>

<p>Interesting that the main motivation is not cheap labor, but a skilled workforce.
