I'm a junior who received a 31 on this June's ACT. Here are my subscores:
English: 35
Math: 29
Reading: 35
Science: 25

As you can see, the science brought my done significantly. I could increase my score 2 points if I only got it in line with my other scores. The ironic thing is, I got a 29 in science my sophomore year. I don't see how I could suddenly get bad at the science section; and it's not a fluke, either. On the April ACT, I got a 24 in science.

Do you guys have any tips for getting a better scores on the science section? It's a pain to see such a trivial section bring down what could be an even better score.

I took the ACT for the first time this June and I thought the Science section was unusually hard compared to practice tests...
The physics (which I didnt take yet) killed me.

You're not alone:

34 Math
34 English
34 Reading
23 Science

I honestly could not tell you what wrong - science is my best subject. I'll take it again in September. For now, I can only practice and familiarize myself with this stupid section ...err!!

I was in the same situation when I took it the first time, I got a 25 (29 composite... don't remember the other breakdowns.)

I retook it with no prep or anything and got a 34. Try retaking it.

yeah, one science section on one test may be good, and on the next test, it could be beastly bad

Same problem here:
30 E
34 M
26 R
22 S

Yeah pretty much sucks

I posted some tips there, it seems like science is a big problem for a lot of people.
I didn't have trouble with it, but I read fast.
It seems the problem isn't that people don't know things (honestly you don't need to know much for ACT science, it's more reading comp), but that they get freaked out and work too slowly.

It didn't kill me as badly as some people, but...

31 English
32 Math
31 Reading
23 Science

The curve isn't as nice though, as in a few questions wrong and you could be in the low 30s. I'm more worried about not lowering the other scores, but science can definitely be overcome with practice.
