Help! DS is trying desperately to find a major. He is determined to not enter college as "undecided". Personally, I don't see an issue w/ not knowing just yet (will be a senior), but for him, it's a big deal. He LOVES sciences, is okay w/ math, and tolerates writing. :) Any ideas? He's tossing around pharmacy, but I don't think he's really convinced that's his best choice. Would love your thoughts, as well as ideas of schools in the midwest that are strong in science. He's considering U of Mich., OSU, and U of Cinci, but is certainly still exploring options.
Thanks for your two cents...

neuroscience is a popular new major. includes all the pre-med classes, plus an emphasis on the brain and psychology. my daughter has really enjoyed it, particularly her pharmacology classes - which would be good prep for pharmacy.

Is he interested in engineering at all? (I am throwing this out there because prospective engineering majors might need to apply to the College of Engineering instead of the College of Arts and Sciences. There’s usually a lot of flexibility to switch between science majors in the liberal arts college, but it’s tough to switch from sciences to engineering.)

my son is doing forensic chemistry and molecular biology…as a path towards medical research

Agree w/b@r!um, that’s about the only reason I can see to be intent on having a major when applying.

Check out the Integrated Science Program at Northwestern U. It’s an honors science program. My S will be started there in September. He’s great at math, loves science, loves the idea of integrating it, but hasn’t decided yet which way to go. Most ISPers double major, usually in ISP and then another science, like physics or chemistry.
