Does anyone know what the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major in UCI is like?

[School of Biological Sciences - Undergraduate Programs](<a href=“UCI General Catalogue Archives”>UCI General Catalogue Archives)

Those are the graduation requirements.

I’m sorry, but if you ask really vague questions, you’re going to have to settle for really vague answers.

Most of the biochem people i knew were doubling with a chem major.

Except that question is pretty specific, you just don’t know the answer. Nor do I.

Despite what the name my say, biochem and what not is focused much far more on the bio side than the chem side. That being said, there is a lot of memorization. I remember hearing the virology courses being particularly bad.
In terms of jobs, I can’t say. Everyone I knew doing it is/was applying to med/pharm school.
Something to note is your lower div bio classes are basically the same no matter what your major is (93-94, 97-98-99).

Again, I’m not sure what kind of information you’re looking for. Are you interested in research opportunities? how MB&B compare to other bio majors/other schools? What are the students like? Are there lots of electives offered? How are the teachers?
This is what I mean by “what’s it like?” being a vague question.

You think your future employer or grad school interviewer is going to ask you what the electives were offered in your engineering major?

No they don’t go easy on you. They will ask you, so what was the materials science like at UCI? And stopping short and telling them it was a vague question is the last thing you want to do.

No, you ask them to elaborate.

But maybe I’m wrong. So please correct me. I googled a few lists of common interview questions. Which questions are similar to “What was xxxx like at UCI?”? The closest I could find is “Describe yourself”, but that seems more like an ice breaker/small talk rather than a question designed to ascertain specific information. (vs., say, “What can you do for us that someone else can’t do?”, which seems fairly specific in my mind.)

No, but an incoming student might.
And your employer might ask which electives you took, but this is really splitting hairs and getting us nowhere.

Rule #1 of any interview is that anything you put on your application is fair game son.

You think they want to dig inside of you? Let’s be more realistic now, unemployment is sky-high these days, they will toss you aside if you can’t take the initiative and sell yourself at a competitive rate.

You’re right. I totally thought this was just a random person (probably a freshmen) asking a question to get information and make an informed decision. It was really a practice interview.
Now I’ll be unemployed forever ='[

^ :] 10char, Work it flemmyd

You never know, don’t underestimate anyone bro. He’s gonna be your employer someday and you’re rude to him? Sad

It’s k tho, you can still be useless and uninformative on cc for a living as long as I’m not watching. lol
