Science & Math High Schools

Hey I was just wondering what science and math magnet schools do you guys know of? Any schools that are designed for science and math / happen to have some crazy math / science ppl enrolled will do. So far I have:

Stuyvesant High School
Bronx High School of Math & Science
Brooklyn Technical High School
Illinois Institute of Science & Mathematics
Thomas Jefferson School of Science and Mathematics
Exeter
Andover

any others?

montgomery blair in silver spring MD has one of the best science magnets in america. it has sent more people to intel of any high school in america except for stuyvestant.

It's Bronx High School of Science, not Math and Science.

I go there :)

There are also 3 more specialized high schools in NYC, I can't remember the exact names of all three though. All three are math/science high schools.

North Carolina School of Science and Math (Which Illinois and the other S&Ms are based on)

Oklahoma School for Science and Math (OSSM) is a junior/senior year boarding school on a college campus.

I was gonna say the NCSSM, but someone beat me to it. I've got a couple friends there.

exeter and andover? I've never heard of anyone from those school's doing something insane in science/math

Maine School of Science and Mathematics its in Limestone Maine.

ill settle this matter.

http://www.ossm.edu/ncsssmst.htm

though, ossm is by far the best.

wow, thats comprehensive.

does anyone remember that link posted a while back to some article that listed the top 50 or so high schools in the country? it noted that privates were at the top, etc etc etc... rankings based on percent of class sent to hyp....?

Um, sherry Gong who attends either Exeter or Andover got a silver medal at the IMO for Puerto Rico in 8th grade.

"exeter and andover? I've never heard of anyone from those school's doing something insane in science/math"

two years ago exeter sent 3 kids to IMO (thats half the the American team) and had the reigning 3 year USAMO champion. their math coach is also the head of the united states math team.

andover has the best physics department in america. it sent 2 kids to the international physics olympiad (2/5 of the team) and has the highest scoring AP physic exams of any high school in the nation.

Exeter is the strongest school at high-level math in the country right now (arguably in the world.)

Besides Gong, of the previous year's IMO team, 3 of 6 went to Exeter. The IMO team leader also happens to work for Exeter. It's a spectacular math school.

NCSSM. We are really good at research I think. Last year we did really good in the Siemens Westinghouse competition.

The Texas Academy of Math and Science (TAMS) had more Siemens semifinalists than any other high school in the nation (9?) this year.

Jeez I wish I had a chance to go to these high schools when I was younger :( (off topic but I had to say it)

yeah i wish i had known about all these schools before i started highschool so i couldve applied to them. X-(

Well NCSSM is open only to residents of NC.

All of you that go to science high schools: how advanced do your classes get? At my regular public high school right now, the highest level chemistry class that we have is AP Chemistry, but I'm trying to get organic chemistry offerred next year. Do they offer Organic Chem at the Science magnet high schools? Just curious.
