Science + Reading

Which books are good for these sections? These are the only sections which give me problems at times, so I'm not going to study much for math or reading.

I already have the official book and Princeton Review...

How are: Princeton Review, Barrons and ACT for dummies?

Thanks in advance!

I'm in the same boat. I heard Barron's is inaccurate, but don't take my word for it. I think there really isn't a prep book that can help you score higher on them. Its all about timing. Once you figure out a good pace that allows you to finish all the problems in time, you'll be set. Thats what i'll be working on this week - afterall the science and reading sections r straightforward Q/A's..no tricks.

I found PR to be adequate for both sections. The biggest thing you can do to improve your science scores is to practice it. The actual questions on the test science section are not hard, it is just the time restrictions. When you practice the reading and science sections make sure to time yourself.

IMO that is the best way to improve your reading and science scores.
This method allowed me to go from 31 on my first science practice test to a 36 in science on the real test.

What does IMO mean? :)

In My Opinion

On the reading test, try reading the questions first. Then you can read the passages a little faster and pick up the information you need. Then when you return to the questions, you can answer them quickly without having to go back and look at the passage.

On the science test, go straight to the questions. Then read only as much of the passage as necessary to answer each question.

Of course, you must try this on a practice test to see if it works for you.
