What does it take to get the science Richmond scholarship, or any full ride scholarship at Richmond? Great grades and test scores… And?
PPPPPlease someone
The science scholar is not generally a full-ride, it is full tuition (unless you get a Robins science scholar, which aren’t always given out). The only full rides are Oldham scholars. It is hard to quantify what exactly the scholars committee looks for. They are looking for strong academics, leadership, and passion. Specifically for science, they generally look for someone who has already done research in some field.
As an international student coming from a country with zero research opportunities, does that mean I have a zero chance for receiving a science scholarship?
Have you been able to do research in labs in science classes at your school? Or does your school have any science fairs or competitions? Have you been able to mentor or tutor other students in science subjects? Those types of activities would be helpful also. I also think that science scholarships can be awarded for mathematics also.
I’ve done plenty of lab, but we follow a strict curriculum for lab works, so not “research” in a strict sense. In my science scholars submission, I talked about my passion for electronics and my participation in a national level robotics competition.
Those activities certainly demonstrate passion in the sciences, and along with your impressive stats, I think that you are a very competitive candidate for a science scholarship. Best of luck to you @cauldroncastle - I hope you will be receiving good news soon
Thank you so much!!
