My friend (who's brilliant at science) told me that the science section was the hardest part of the ACT, and that the experiments they show are ridiculous. Any tips on how to do well?

It’s not as bad. One of my friends did the best on this section and hates science. It’s just interpreting graphs. Make sure you don’t skip the introduction though, because you won’t understand the experiment and a lot of the questions refer back to it. Also, don’t linger on any problems, you only have so much time.

Also remember to read the full passage of the differing opinions of the scientists. :)

Personally, Science is my favorite subject, but the first time i took a practice act science, i didn’t even have time for the last three passages.
The problem with the science section is not the content it tests you on, but the time limit and the pace.
My advice is to simply practice and go over ur mistakes - u don’t need to read the intro for any of the passages except for the conflicting viewpoints passage. Furthermore, most of the questions can be answered just from the graphs and knowing what the variables are and what the realationships are.
Make sure not to confuse which variables are used in which experiements, b/c there’re multiple expts in each passage
hopefully this helps a bit

Yeah, the science section is entirely a race against time. I never have time to read the passages, I go straight to the questions.

I do the same thing! Its kinda sad, tho. I did a practice test, read one of the answers wrong, missed 1 and got a 34 on that section… one wrong = 34… 0 wrong = 36 … i hate that…
