I was wondering whether Rice has an informal policy about science supplements, specifically research papers (i.e. does it like them/want them? If so, in what format?). I recently completed a significant project and would love to submit my abstract and/or paper, but only if Rice is receptive. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Sweetsmiles,

Sounds exciting! As a Rice parent, I would strongly guess that Rice, which is well-known for its research opportunities, would be very interested in reading either your abstract or paper… As for which, why not ask Admissions which format would be preferred.
Or, send both …

Rice does not discourage additional supplements as far as I know, if they will enhance your application. I would say go for it. Submit both the abstract and the full paper and if they like the former, they can read the latter.

As Ottoline says, it cannot hurt to ask them. You can email them at admi@rice.edu as well

Thank you, Ottoline and Antarius! I don’t know why I didn’t think to contact admissions, but I’ll be sure to do that.

Do post back with what they say. I am curious and it could help future applicants as a reference point.

Good luck!
