Is there a divide between these two groups that extends beyond just north and south sides of campus? Or is it just me? If this is the case, is such animosity warranted?

I think it may just be you.

I would say there might be a certain amount of tacit resentment among a few science majors...nothing too much beyond that.

Science and engineering/tech. Then you have some humanities and social science majors that make fun of the sci/tech majors that have superiority complexes. And some of the sci/tech majors laugh at the hum/socsci majors because they think that the hum/socsci majors will be broke and jobless after college. And the hum/socsci majors tend, at least at the moment, not to care or realize they can make some decent money if they want, such as through law or business.
