@vossari Congrats! I also was pleanstly surprised when I received today a dean’s scholrship to one of the colleges I was accepted into. Totally unexpected especially for a weekend notification If Columbia-Sciences Po are following this thread: I am not breaking first. I have the grit and stamina to survive this torture, lol. Please accept me!!
@DualDegreeSeeker Same! What if they want us to keep a poker face though? The options are endless! All I’m saying is I want this more than anything, as long as I don’t die waiting
Conspiracy theory that popped into my head! What if they’ve gone back to mailing decisions? Anyone in the U.S. want to sign up with Fedex, UPS, & USPS to check? I tried but you’ve got to live there
@DualDegreeSeeker Imagine discovering that page just a few days before interview decisions came out!! My friend and I were panicked because we didn’t know which site was accurate
@lion4546 I had no idea they were so selective for interviews! I only found CC after I received my interview, if not I would’ve been panicking lol
@lion4546 haha! The portal I access with my email address was updated with all the documents they received though not so until mid-January.
@vossari I visited CC when I started learning about the program in the Fall. I didn’t visit CC until a week before my interview and this is when I signed up. I also read threads about other colleges I applied to. I didn’t know either that they were so selective about interviews.
@DualDegreeSeeker CC has become such a supportive place for me, it’s good to know others are going through what I’m going through as well! Any theories on when you think they might release the decisions?
@vossari @DualDegreeSeeker I found CC a long time ago and picked apart last year’s conversation about the Dual BA And then in August when there was still nothing for 2016, I created this one. I’m really happy it has had so much success! I didn’t use it much up until now, but since we’re currently in a tense waiting period, the conversation helps a lot. My prediction for decisions is… Wednesday. (Random.) I hope I’m overly pessimistic.
@lion4546 Shall we take bets on when decisions will come out? If anyone hears anything please let us know!
I think that they’re going to come out around the same time as the admissions for first-year regular Columbia College students, so March 31st (around 5 pm EDT). Since “by April 1st” could mean “We’re gonna send them out the latest we can without it being April 1st.”
You guys were probably almost definitely affected by it being Easter Weekend, though the Columbia Offices are still open. I am almost 100% sure they’re not mailing them ONLY, because last year they did both and we got a dossier in the post a few days (weeks if you’re an international kid) after, with the same information.
@n1ghtsh4d3 Thanks for the input! I agree that they were probably affected by the fact that it’s easter weekend.
@aplyfe I agree with you, if they’re gonna change it they might as well time it to go with Columbia College.
Yeah I just want to say that I’ve been lurking here awhile and you guys have been very helpful the entire time. Thank you.
For my mental sanity I am going to check only once a night for the next few days.
@vossari Sure let’s bet! Day and time, and whoever is closest wins? I like the Easter theory (which I had not thought of before) so I’ll go with Tuesday March 29 at 6 pm.
Hi everyone,
Can anyone currently in the program shed some light on what I might expect for financial aid if I get in? Last years thread is quite worrisome with accepted applicants turning the program down due to low FA and high costs. I have two acceptances to other schools that are almost a full ride but this is my first choice and I’m going to have to “sell” it to my parents over a debt free education. Thank you!
@lion4546 I think that’s not allowed or something but who cares! I would probably agree with the Easter weekend theory and would go with Tuesday, but just to have something different I’ll say March 31st same time as normal Columbia decisions.
@irelandwagner I am an applicant like you but this is what I heard: regarding FA, it follows the same rule as any incoming regular Columbia freshman student. It basically all depends on your family income. Use the Net Price Calculator for Columbia College https://cc-seas.financialaid.columbia.edu/npc to get an approximate idea of what you will get in FA from Columbia (I know the dual BA is under GS but use the calculator as an estimator). The biggest saving comes from the first 2 years in France. The French government also subsidizes rooming by covering about half of the monthly rent, making the cost of the years in France similar to attending a state school in the US. Those savings will help offset the cost of the last 2 years in NYC. There are some scholarships from Sciences Po available to non-European Union students too (If you are a European Union student that’s a different story). The hardest part would be if you have a sibling entering college in 2 years when you come back to Columbia, I think you can mention that to the FA office and see what they can offer you.
I will have a hard time selling the dual BA program to my parents too since I have a full free ride to my state school.
Good Luck!
@vossari and @lion4546 you two are funny! Thanks for putting a smile on my face during this stressful time I say decisions will be sent out on Ivy day March 31st with the regular Columbia decisions. Not betting anything though. I need every single penny for college
@DualDegreeSeeker @vossari I didn’t think we were actually betting money! ^^ let’s just do it for the pride
@DualDegreeSeeker @lion4546 I’m Greek! Where would I find the money to bet? Glad to hear we could brighten up your day
hahahahaha it sounds like we’re all totally broke anyone else, feel free to join in!
@DualDegreeSeeker where are you from? I live in Boston. And do either of you speak French? How did you hear about the program?
