Sciences Po/Columbia Dual Degree 2020 Admissions

@GSTourGuides In regards to the interviews, do you have to go to New York or France for the interview, or are you able to interview via online video e.t.c? Thanks in advance.

You have the option to interview in person in New York or Paris if you can. Otherwise you will interview via teleconference (videochat or phone). It makes no difference which one you choose, so don’t feel compelled to catch a plane or anything for your interview!

Maybe this was already asked, but is there information on how many people typically apply to Dual BA ?

@NYC2018nyc I believe about 500 apply and between 20-25% get accepted

Hey guys, just went through the thread and got a little confused. Why is everyone mailing their transcripts already when the website says that you can apply using an unofficial transcript? I thought you could wait until admission before sending an official copy. Also, are interviewees notified on a rolling basis or are all invitations released on the 15th of February ? Thanks a bunch and good luck to everybody <3

It’s a bit confusing, as the website says you must submit official transcripts once offered admission but also that one “must submit official high school transcripts as part of their application file.” (https://sciencespo.gs.columbia.edu/application-process-and-requirements) It seems that most high schools send official documents via Slate or mail and then complete transcripts (updated with grades from following semesters) later on in the school year after admission.

Interviewees will be notified all at once around February 15th.

The number of applicants (and therefore competitiveness) is increasing every year, with over 500 applying each year. The admissions team will invite 175 applicants to interview, and then between 100 and 115 will be offered admission.

But personally I don’t think one should read too much into the acceptance rate, as the uniqueness of this program attracts students that are highly motivated by this kind of international dual-degree experience.

How do we find out about interviews? Is it an email? Or does something show up on the portal? The Dual BA portal seems very different from the other schools, I’m just making sure we’re in the right place.
Thanks

yeah, that got me so confused! however, there’s a sentence in bold on the website saying “unofficial transcripts are accepted as part of the application review process” ?

Interview notifications are sent out by email.

@GSTourGuides Hi! Do you know if there was a place on the application where you indicated your intention to apply for financial aid? I can’t recall if I checked yes, but now cannot seem to find a link where I can check my status. I did find a financial aid page on the Dual BA site, but the link to the “Dual BA Program Application for Financial Aid” directed me to the regular admissions application, which has no mention of financial aid. Also, are there essays to be completed with the financial aid application? And does it require the submission of a CSS profile? Thank you!

Applicants must indicate that they want to apply for financial aid on the third page of their application, in the “Personal Information” section, in order to access the financial aid application which is uploaded automatically to their Admissions Portal. It is not possible to change this once an applicant submits their application. If an applicant selected “No” for financial aid, but would like to apply now, they must email spo-dualba@columbia.edu and request to update their application to apply for financial aid.

Assuming we all get in, is accepted students day in NY? Does anyone go to visit the French campus? Just curious

Yes, accepted students day is in New York on Columbia’s campus. There isn’t any such event at Sciences Po, although if you want to visit any of the campuses, you can definitely organize that. In the past, Dual BA students have given informal tours to visitors at the different Sciences Po campuses.

Has anyone received an email yet? (I personally have not)
I recall it is on the first days of February that applicants get answers about whether or not they are eligible for an interview.

Applicants will receive interview invitations around February 15 - so sit tight!

Thank you for the precision!

anyone getting anxious? less than a week until the first round of decisions are released ?

I am! Last year the interviews were released on february 9th

Yes! It’s getting close!
