Sciences Po vs LSE

I'm an econ major trying to decide where to study abroad and I'm looking for your opinion. Both programs, Sciences Po in Paris and London School of Economics (LSE), are a year long. LSE is very well known in the states, much more than Sciences Po. But I think I want to make my french fluent. Do you think people in the US know about Sciences Po? (Thats my biggest worry.)
If anyone has attended LSE or Science Po I would be very interested in your opinion and experience.

to clarify, I was looking for anyone's opinion, not just people who have attended LSE or Sciences Po.

I imagine more people in the states have heard of LSE than Sciences Po. Nevertheless, among those who are aware of both, Sciences Po may actually look more impressive; fewer Americans attend and it's obviously more difficult to do well in a foreign language school, especially such an elite one.

I say it depends on who you're interested in impressing. If you want a more international career, go with Sciences Po; if you're strictly after integrating study abroad with a more domestic focus in econ or poli sci, LSE is probably the better choice.

I've known people who have attended both; none have come back unhappy but the Sciences Po people were definitely more ecstatic about the school and the educational opportunities it afforded.

Note these recommendations are based on reputation and perception alone, not the quality of academics.

If its study abroad then just go to the one you want to go to, don't think about prestige at all.

I would suggest Science-Po so that you can really master another language. Also as columbia2007 pointed out:

"among those who are aware of both, Sciences Po may actually look more impressive"

So don't take LSE over Sciences-po just because you think that it will be more recognized in the states (or vice-versa)

"Do you think people in the US know about Sciences Po? (That's my biggest worry.)"

That shouldn't be your biggest worry

My 2 cents

Both schools are very prestigious and well-known among those who are informed in the US. Focus your decision on other parameters, such as the foreign language, city culture, etc.

Where are you attending college now, and have you already been accepted for your year abrpad at both LSE and Sciences-Po?

I'm at columbia now, and yes I've been accepted to both programs.

thanks for the advice!
