scientific and graphing calculators ?

What is the difference between these two types of calculators.I am planning on getting one for the MAY test. What would you advise to buy.I would like my calculator to be able to store some dictionary programs so that i can review vocabulary more easily. What do you think about TI-89 ?

get something you will be comfortable using- but seriously, it is advisable to not get a new fancy calculator just for the exam.

if you’ve never used a graphing calculator, dont get the 89.
its more for calculus and beyond.

^^ my opinion exactly.

I highly suggest that you get the TI-84 Silver Edition. It does not have a steep learning curve, unlike the TI-89, so you should be able to figure it out and be able to use it well between now and May. In addition, it comes bundled with SAT/ACT flashcards that are compatible with the Flashcard application on the TI-84, and more flashcards can be downloaded from the Internet.

People using a graphing calculator typically have a greater advantage on the SAT than those who use scientific calculators because of programs, graphing, and other “tools”, but if you know how to use a graphing calculator to your advantage, then you shouldn’t need a calculator for the SATI math section anyways.

Can TI-84 store dictionary programs so that i can review vocabulary on it ?

Lol, the Ti-89 can do all those things rcchen mentioned and more.

And ya, it can CR7, but if you leave it on there for the test, it’d be cheating…i think.

Lol ,of course it would be cheating to check words during the test.It is forbidden by the College board to use calculators during CR.I only need it to review the words before the test
What is the main difference between Ti-89 and Ti-84 silver edition ?
