Hi, I'm an upcoming sophomore. I am really passionate about science (mainly biology and physics), and I am wondering how much skill or education you need to do research. Do you need AP's, higher level knowledge, or will plain interest really suffice to do "worthwhile" research, where I actually learn something. After reading a lot out threads and other websites, I am unsure of whether I am capable of doing research. Also, does scientific research really play that big of a role in admissions, or can students still get accepted to Ivy Leagues and the other great schools without it?
