Will it be weird if I ride a scooter around campus instead of a bike?! I feel like it would be more convenient for me to ride a scooter instead. I'm also female...so do you guys think it'll be weird of me to be the only one with a scooter? Lmao. Thanks for any responses.

No - there are many people who don’t have bikes and bring other things - longboards/skateboards, rollerblades, unicycles, etc. Scooters are included as well. No one would really care if you brought it or not. I think we all understand the convenience of wheels at UCSB.

Scooters are definitely easier to transport, but they’re also more dangerous, IMO.

I was actually thinking of bringing a scooter too but why do you think they’re more dangerous? I feel like it won’t be that much of a hassle but you can’t ride them in the bike lane. I feel like everyone will be riding a bike and I’ll be on a scooter getting trampled over LOL

Scooters r more convenient too

Well, define convenient. Convenient in space and weight, yes, but having to scoot a scooter all over campus can get a lot more tiring than simply biking around campus, and to shops outside UCSB.

You know, I was also thinking that…but then against you’re avoiding the risk of getting your bike stolen.

Oh yeh sorry my definition of conveniency was just getting you from your dorm to class and back, and transporting your transportation

Are you kidding me, which do you get more balance from, a bike or scooter?

You can’t ride nearly as fast on a scooter as bikers can. Going too slow in the bike lane could be dangerous.

Slow bikers on bike paths (especially bikers with beach cruisers) = rage mode activated.

diana3: I get more balance using a scooter. Believe it or not. It’s actually easier for me…everyone’s different.

The point is getting from Point A to Point B. Don’t really care about speed. I’m NEVER late so I don’t have to worry. I’ll probably ride it on the sidewalk since they won’t let scooters in the bike lane :-)
