I'm a first year student living off campus around 5 miles from UF. I also work on campus and get out at around 1 am and sometimes there aren't any buses running at that time. I'm tired of asking favors to my co-workers, my roommate at 1 in the morning or paying for a taxi ($10-$15). So I was wondering what you guys thought would be better for me. A scooter or a bike? Also, which one is safer in your opinion?

bike would be better; gainesville is super bike-friendly, so just be cautious, pay attention and you should be safe

I say a scooter. I have both a scooter and a Bike up here and I have used my bike once. Scooters get you around town and there is plenty of parking. They get around 100mpg and you dont need insurance, a helmet, or anything. a 5 mile bike ride seems like a real pain at 1 am vs a 5 mile scoot

I f you’re talking about a motorcycle I still think a scooter is better. Yes motorcycles go faster, but you have to have insurance, wear a helmet and pay for the course. They also don’t get as good gas mileage. Scooters are also automatic where as bikes have clutches which suck on hills and around campus where there are frequent stops and starts.
