Score Choice and MIT

I took the SAT twice:
740 CR 770 M 700 W
and
660 CR 690 M 760 W

The second time I scored much lower of M and CR due to lack of preparation for those sections as opposed to writing. MIT allows Score Choice and Superscores, so if I send in both tests I would have a 740, 770, 760 2270 instead of a 740, 770, 700 2210. 60 points here is huge, as 2270 is almost twice as rare as 2210. However, that would mean that MIT would see my comparatively bad CR and M scores.

Is it a good idea to send the second test, or should I just send the first?

P.S. I haven't been able to find any good information about MIT's use of the Writing section, so if anyone could give me more info about that I would also appreciate it.

MIT says they superscore. Do you think they are lying? To what end? Send them both.

MIT does superscore, so it will not hurt you. I would send both.

However, I understand what you are saying regarding Writing. It is unclear to me whether MIT uses the Writing score. At one point, I was told that they did not. That was a few years ago, and but I have not heard them say explicitly that they do.

Yes, MIT superscores. However if you look at the admissions blogs, they’ll likely only glance at your scores. A superscore of 2270 is quite good, so I wouldn’t worry about it.
