Does anyone understand Penn's score choice limitations??? Do we have to send every test we have ever taken or can we send all tests from either just collegeboard or just act? And better yet, does anyone know how I can get an official answer on this? I sent an e-mail asking weeks ago and they just sent me back some unhelpful automated response with a link to the website lol.

The website says:

[quote]
Penn requires freshman applicants to submit either:
the SAT (which includes the Critical Reading, Math, and Writing sections) and two SAT Subject Tests
OR

the ACT Plus Writing
No preference is given to either test. Penn requires applicants to submit their entire testing history.

You can’t do score choice for Penn. You must submit your entire testing history. Now I believe you can send just ACT, but then that means you can’t send subject tests. If you send them any SAT scores at all, you have to send all of them.

Sure, but UPenn “highly recommends” two SAT II subject tests…which means you’ve started sending SAT results…I’d assume they’d expect to then see all SAT-related scores.

Check with admissions to see if sending SAT 2’s means that you have to send SAT composite tests too.

Students often take multiple SAT2s to show mastery of material or because certain schools require/recommend them in addition to ACT/SAT. It is quite possible to take SAT2 tests and NOT take the SAT. There are a number of reasons this might happen. Cases I am familiar with are students that got near perfect ACT scores and were NOT in contention for NMSF because PSAT score not high enough to qualify them beyond commended status in their state. I do not believe it is an issue to send ACT scores and SAT2 scores and NOT SAT scores especially since there are schools that require SAT or ACT and recommend but do not require the SAT2. While you should certainly check with admissions to see what they advise (and it is probably best to do what they advise) - there is also no way for them to know that you sent only your SAT2 scores unless you told them. They may SUSPECT you took them (the SATs), but there is no way to know for sure. It is a question of ethics -

While what plmdin said could very well be true. Consider this: Collegeboard will warn you that you’re not supposed to use score choice when reporting scores to Penn. Now you CAN go ahead and send them anyway using it. However if Collegeboard has the ability to warn you, they certainly also have the ability to warn Penn too. Will they? Maybe. Maybe Not. I don’t know the answer to that. If they don’t, good job, you got away with it and are possibly into Penn. If they do… You’re done for. Penn will know you are intentionally not following directions (because Collegeboard warned) and you have no chance for admission.
