with score choice would you say it's okay to take the sat 4 times?
will they ever know how many times you took the sat?

Yes they will know; I think colleges prefer if you take up to 3 and not more…

^The whole purpose of Score Choice is that you to chose the scores you want to send, when you use Score Choice, colleges do NOT see the scores you didn’t send, so they don’t know how many times you took the SAT.

That said, NOT all schools will let you use Score Choice, you need to go to the websites of the schools you’re interested in and find out about their SAT submission policy.

Also, don’t waste your time and money, prep for the SAT, then take it when you’re ready. If necessary, do one retake. IMO it’s a mistake to think you’re going to get better scores just by taking it multiple times, it’s the prep that helps you to improve. And then you don’t put yourself in the position of having taken it several times and wanting to hide some scores.

I agree with entomom.

I waited until May and June to take mine because I didn’t feel ready to take them earlier and got 1900 and 2110 respectively (2150 superscored).

the list on collegeboard is the one you look at to see if the school uses score choice
correct?

^Yes and no. Since it administers the SAT, the CB SHOULD have a current list of the Score Choice policies for schools, however I generally don’t trust comprehensive lists as they can be out of date. If you have a dozen schools on your list, it would take half an hour to go to each of their websites and find out their policies from the primary source. That is what I recommend since this is an important part of your application process.

p.s. for schools that don’t accept SC, I agree with cricket that 3 is the max you want to take the SAT.
